Philippines Day 11 (Manila)

I rarely get to come home before 10, have to finish my posts for Philippines fast with all my other work piling up.

Day 11. I felt slightly better, good enough to go out for sight seeing. Robinsons mall was the closest to where we were staying at Malate so we went to check it out first. By this time, I was used to the size of the malls. They just don't have any small malls.

Left: I think the vehicle and the officer is like our version of CISCO guards.
Right: roadside BBQ

I always enjoy looking at the graphics of the jeepneys. Some of them can be really funny sometimes.

Streetside vendors selling sweets and cigarettes are common.

Buko (coconut in Tagalog) Man!

Christians and Catholics will love the country as many things are "hallelujah themed".

Left: Can't remember the name of this place. From what I understand from Alvin, it was supposed be squatters for the homeless but it was demolished by the Government for some reason. Maybe they wanted to clean up their city image or something. Guess it backfired when all these homeless people are now scattered over the streets instead.

Right: Kids playing some kind of cha-tek.

After Robinsons, we went to Glorietta and it has a few other shopping buildings around and they are somewhat connected. Best to go to this places without carrying a bag. Everytime I enter a building, they had to inspect my bag. Once or twice is fine but it gets annoying after some time. Glorietta is their preferred malls and it seems to have everything you need.

Tried their Mcdonald's Crunchies which is like KFC's zinger but not as good.

Right: Greenbelt, an 'attas' mall.

I am not a shopping kind of guy but if I were to go, I need to set a target to buy something that gives me a reason to go shopping. Was planning to get shoes and a jacket / windbreaker. Walked in to a few shops and came out within mins. They all look the same to me and thats why I have been wearing my dunks instead. I do realise I can't escape for long and eventually I still need to get some slightly more formal shoes to make me look like a 9-5pm kind of commuter. I did find a Nike windbreaker that I like in the end but everywhere was out of stock for mysize. Back in SG, I found and bought it.
